Built for New England Weather
What VixFix Handles Outside
The exterior of a New Hampshire home gets beaten up. Concrete walkways heave from frost. Paint flakes off south-facing siding after two summers of UV. Caulk shrinks, cracks, and lets water through the joint above a window. By the time most homeowners notice the damage, the underlying repair is twice as expensive as the original fix would have been. That is why exterior maintenance matters so much here, and why VixFix treats the outside of your house with the same care we treat the inside.
Justin at VixFix handles exterior repair across NH and northern MA, from a single cracked walkway slab to full exterior painting, pressure washing, deck rebuilds, and foundation crack patching. The work is scheduled around the weather, sealed against the weather, and built to last past the next winter. If you have seen something on the outside of your house that looks off, the right time to address it is before the next freeze.

What's Included
Exterior Services We Provide
Concrete Pours & Walkways
Concrete pour NH projects from front steps and stoops to walkways, pads, and small slabs. Formed, poured, finished, and broom-textured for grip in winter. Recent cement pour projects in our portfolio.
Exterior Painting
Exterior painting NH that holds up to UV and freeze-thaw. Proper prep, scraping, caulking, priming, and two coats of a top-tier exterior product like Benjamin Moore Aura or Sherwin-Williams Duration.
Pressure Washing
Siding, decks, walkways, and concrete pressure washed at the right PSI for the surface. Removes mildew, pollen, and winter salt buildup without gouging wood or stripping paint.
Deck Repair
Board replacement, joist sistering, railing repair, and re-staining. Rotted spots cut out and replaced before the structure becomes unsafe. Pressure-treated and composite both handled.
Exterior Caulking
Failed caulk around windows, doors, and trim is one of the top causes of interior water damage in NH homes. Old caulk removed cleanly, joints prepped, and re-sealed with quality exterior sealant.
Exterior Trim Repair
Rotted soffit, fascia, corner board, and window trim replaced with primed PVC or pressure-treated stock so the same spot does not rot through again two years later.
Foundation Crack Repair
Hairline and vertical foundation cracks patched with the right product for the situation, hydraulic cement, urethane injection, or parging, depending on whether the crack is dry or actively leaking.
Gutter Help
Gutter cleaning, re-pitching, downspout extension, and minor repair. Clean gutters are the cheapest insurance against ice dams, basement flooding, and rotted fascia.
Why It Matters Here
New England Climate Considerations
Freeze-Thaw Cycles
NH sees dozens of freeze-thaw cycles every winter. Water sneaks into the smallest crack in concrete, masonry, or caulk, freezes overnight, expands, and widens the crack. By spring, a hairline becomes a real problem. The fix is to seal the joint before winter, not after.
Ice Dams
Warm air leaks into a cold attic, melts the snow on the roof, refreezes at the eave, and the next melt-cycle pushes water back up under the shingles and into the house. Clean gutters, intact caulking around skylights, and a sound roof edge cut the risk dramatically.
Road Salt Damage
Road salt and driveway de-icer chew through concrete, wood, and unpainted metal. Concrete walkways near a salted driveway need a quality sealer applied every two to three years. Painted steel railings need a rust-converting primer when the chips start showing.
Heavy Snow Load
Two feet of wet snow on a deck or porch roof is a lot of weight. Deck joists that were already weakened by rot can fail under the load. A pre-winter deck check is cheap insurance, especially on decks more than 12 years old.

What It Costs
Exterior Work Pricing Ranges
Every exterior job is different, but these are the ranges most homeowners can expect for typical residential work in NH and northern MA. Every project gets a flat written estimate after a free site visit.
Concrete Walkway or Pad
Small residential concrete pours, walkways, front steps, AC pads, and stoop repairs typically run $800 to $4,500. Demo of old concrete, prep, forms, and finish are all included in the quote.
Exterior Painting
Full exterior repaint on an average NH home generally runs $4,500 to $12,000 depending on stories, prep needed, and product. Smaller jobs like a single side, trim only, or a porch ceiling start around $800.
Pressure Washing
Whole-house pressure washing typically runs $300 to $650. Deck pressure washing alone runs $150 to $350. Often bundled with painting or staining for a discount.
Deck Repair
Board and joist repair on an existing deck typically runs $400 to $2,500. Full deck rebuilds are quoted separately and depend heavily on size, materials, and railing style.
Exterior Caulking
A full caulking refresh on an average home, all windows, doors, trim joints, and penetrations, typically runs $400 to $1,200. Often paired with exterior painting to extend the paint life.
Foundation Crack Repair
Single non-structural crack repair typically runs $250 to $700. Active leaks needing urethane injection run higher. Structural cracks get referred to a foundation engineer.
Timing Matters
When to Schedule What
Exterior work in NH is weather-dependent. Booking the right job at the right time gets you better results and a better price. Here is how we typically lay out the year.
Spring, April to May
Pressure washing, gutter cleaning, foundation crack inspection, and deck assessment. This is the right time to find what winter damaged before scheduling repairs for the warmer months.
Late Spring, May to June
Concrete pours start as soon as overnight lows stay above freezing. Exterior caulking is ideal in this window when surfaces are dry and temps are stable.
Summer, June to August
Peak exterior painting season. Long dry windows and stable temps let paint cure properly. Deck staining and deck repair both fit well in this window.
Early Fall, September to October
Last chance for exterior painting before overnight temps drop below the product's minimum. Final concrete pours, caulking refreshes, and pre-winter gutter and trim repair.
Late Fall, November
Rush window for pre-freeze foundation crack repair and quick caulking on water-leak emergencies. Beyond mid-November most exterior work pauses until spring.
Winter, December to March
We pivot to interior projects like drywall repair and water damage repair in winter, and book the spring exterior schedule starting in February.

Common Questions
Exterior Work FAQ
What exterior work does VixFix handle?
Concrete pours and walkways, exterior painting, pressure washing, exterior caulking, deck repair, exterior trim repair, foundation crack repair, and gutter help across NH and northern MA. If it is on the outside of the house and it needs work, ask, chances are we handle it.
How much does an exterior concrete walkway cost in NH?
Most small residential concrete pours, walkways, pads, and stoop repairs run between $800 and $4,500 depending on size, prep needed, and access. Justin gives a flat written estimate before any work begins so there are no surprises.
When is the best time to schedule exterior work in NH?
Pressure washing and exterior caulking are ideal from late April through October. Exterior painting is best in late spring through early fall when overnight temps stay above 50 degrees. Concrete pours run May through October, with a rush window in late October before the first hard freeze.
Do you offer free estimates for exterior work?
Yes. Every exterior estimate is free, no-obligation, and in writing. Most quotes come back within 24 hours of the site visit. Call 603-202-5309 or use the form on this page.
Do exterior issues cause interior water damage?
Often yes. Failed caulking, cracked foundation walls, missing exterior paint, and clogged gutters are the most common sources of interior water damage in NH homes. Fixing the exterior cause first prevents the same drywall repairs and ceiling water damage from happening again next year.
How long does exterior paint last in New Hampshire?
A quality exterior paint job with proper prep typically lasts 7 to 10 years on a NH home, longer on north-facing walls, shorter on south-facing walls that take the brunt of UV. Re-caulking and touch-up painting around year five extends the lifespan noticeably.
